Sea shells

Ghost

Faint rumbles of ship propulsion

off in the distance, the wayward Pacific.

From waters’ depth, an attractive retreat intact

along the narrow Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Delicate layers bounced, but not broken

a curvy shelter for the barnacle crusts.

Housing a water filter extraordinaire

left soothing smooth within.

Once a bivalve from the Salish Sea

now a rocky shoreline vacancy.
