Mystique
Combing the Salish Sea
rests a rock ship run ashore.
An outcrop beauty beckoning a closer look
I’ve been away for awhile.
Venturing along crusted rock pools
my Puget Sound origins revive.
Weightless in Hood Canal
among the white Plume Anemones.
The San Juan Islands, another world
captivates our laden boat.
Swaying kelp forests, where rhythmic light mingles
purple rock crabs keep scout on the floor.
Surging craggy reefs, flowing Lingcod
big eerie Cabezon glide the darker depths.
A dancing invitation of a playful sea pup
engaging eyes greet my surprised masked face.
Crashing swims, banana peeling weight, worth it
an octopus at the end of a jetty rainbow.
On this day, I hop over the wet swirling sand
tides of change, reflecting yesterday.
